In addition to his outstanding academic, professional and community service accomplishments, Dr. Tebabu Tesema Wubetu and his dear wife Tayech have raised an outstanding Son, Dr. Jonathan Tebabu Wubetu.

Among the many proud accomplishments as parents, one of the most remarkable works they did is they raised Jonathan to be proud of his origin, Ethiopia. Despite being born and raised in U.K, Jonathan Tebabu Wubetu is proud of his Ethiopian heritage. As an example, below is an amazing and touching poem Jonathan wrote for the commemoration of the battel of Adwa. True to his heritage, especially notice how he uses wax and gold to illuminate the colors of the flag of Ethiopia (underlined in the poem).

A friend in need is a true friend indeed!

Jitendra Mistry is a dear lifelong friend of Dr. Tebabu Tessema Wubetu. Jitendra completed his high school at Debre Zeit with his dear friend Dr. Tebabu Tessema Wubetu. Dr. Tebabu Tessema Wubetu gave Jitendra two precious parting gifts when he was heading to Leicester, Uk to attend university there.  What is amazing is that the message shows true friendship, and the gift was delivered in a unique way. what is also remarkable is the value Jitendra accorded to the friendship and kept the gift for over forty years.

This is the first precious gift. The gift written in Amharic on a leaf states “your Friend, your brother who will never forget you, T. (Tebabu) W(Wubetu).

The second message to his parting dear friend Jitendra was a friendly advice to “remember or not to lose his memory of Ethiopia”.  The love of Ethiopia and being there for his friends any time they need help is in Dr. Tebabu Tessema Wubetu’s DNA.
