Incidence of Disability among the Debre Zeit Community:
There are different types of disability. Either due to lack of facility and/or specialized teacher to help disabled students, not a lot of disabled students were visible in the 1950s and 1960s Debre Zeit schools. There were few physically disable classmates.
However, it does not mean that there were no disabled community members. Based on data from the 2007 census, the incidence of disability among the Debre Zeit community was 1.4% or 14 people for every 1000 people. This is relatively high compared with East Shewa Zone which was 0.3 % or 3 persons for every 1000 and Oromia region that is 1 % or one person for every 1000.
